APHE TC Instructor Candidates: Please review the Checklist below and send us the necessary information before AHA Instructor Essentials class.

- Review AHA Instructor Candidate Workbook & Instructor Manual.
You must have a current certification as a provider for the discipline that you intend to teach (ex: a BLS Provider can take the BLS Instructor class). If you are already certified, you have completed this step!
Register for an upcoming AHA Instructor Essentials class, taught by one of our exceptional Instructor Essentials Faculty (Instructor Trainers).
AHA requires all Instructor Candidates to complete the approximately 2-hour online Instructor Essentials prior to attending the instructor class. *This can be purchased when you sign up and will be emailed to you.

Complete the application to be an Instructor Candidate. Be prepared to attach your current Provider Card and the Instructor Essentials Online Course Certificate when you complete this
Review (and download and save and/or print, if you choose) the AHA Instructor Candidate Workbook. We will be reviewing and discussing this in the class.
Review your Instructor Manual prior to the class (eBook or printed manual available for purchase when you register). We will be reviewing and discussing this in the class.
Go to atlas.heart.org and either "Sign In" or “Create an Account” using your email address. When you have signed in and reached the Dashboard, you have completed this requirement.
- If you are ill, please reschedule;
- Bring an Internet-capable device (computer, laptop, tablet, etc) to register and complete the exam;
- Bring your Instructor Manual;
- Arrive a few minutes prior to the start of the class to register; and
- You must be present for the entire class and complete a written exam in order to be certified.
Join one of our incredible Instructor Essentials Faculty (Instructor Trainers) in a live, in-person Instructor Class. This 6-7-hour program provides an overview of everything you need to know to teach an AHA class.

On your monitoring day, meet your TF at least 45 minutes prior to your class to complete the BLS Adult CPR and AED Skills Test and Infant CPR Skills Test.
All AHA Classes are video-based classes. There are many AHA products and packages available on The Emergency Store website (our affiliate company).
There are several possible CPR & AED Training manikins to consider. All of these meet AHA's feedback requirements.
We provide equipment rental in some areas.
Go to the APHE TC Instructor Dashboard & watch the VIDEO: APHE TC, AHA Instructor Orientation (~37 minutes).
Review the most current APHE TC Instructor Handbook & Agreements on the APHE TC Instructor Dashboard. The Handbook includes all policies for Instructors aligned with APHE TC.
Within a few days of your monitored teaching, you receive an email from DocuSign to complete. This document has the AHA Instructor Monitor Tool and APHE TC Instructor Handbook & Agreement to sign.
Once you have completed the DocuSign, you have successfully completed your AHA Instructor certification. You will receive your new Instructor eCard via email.
